2026-27

Designing a custom handheld gaming SoC for Schulich Press Start (SPS). We will be modifying the open-source CORE-V-MCU platform and designing a custom 2D GPU to power gaming at the University of Calgary. This is our year-long project, with the goal of having the chip tapeout-ready for the 2027-28 school year.

Latch-Up in Waterloo

In May 2026, members of Schulich on a Chip travelled to the University of Waterloo for Latch-Up 2026, hosted by the FOSSi Foundation. Our team learned from leaders in open-source silicon, toured the Quantum-Nano Fabrication Centre, participated in a Tiny Tapeout chip-design workshop, and delivered a lightning talk sharing our mission, first-year progress, and plans for the future.
